My Audiences Response To The Opening Title Sequance

After I had finished editing my film introduction I showed it to a small group and asked them for feedback both 'what went well' and 'even better if'. Their responses are below.

Billy
Very good, liked the fact the scenes of walking have been removed and the use of props such as the smoke grenade. The flow of the introduction is very well placed and does not confuse the viewer. From the original 7 minute introduction to the new 2 minute none of the story line that has been lost but in fact gained because not too much is given away straight from the start. The style of the text could be changed so that it is bigger and more noticeable.

The introduction from the beginning was intriguing because you are wondering what is happening and whether the guy is good or bad. There was a good use of a soundtrack which links to the genre well and is easier for us an audience to identify. I also like the different types of editing used such as fades and cuts. I like the use of camera work because it makes the audience feel what the characters are feeling using close ups. I liked the fast paced editing when the enemy factions appeared because it makes the audience feel excited with the use of action. The title was also good because it’s bold and stands out and the colours of the title match with the main character. It could be improved by adjusting the text on screen.

I enjoyed watching this introduction. I liked the fact that it left you wondering about the romance between the Green Skull and the girl. I would have liked to have seen more of the two together rather than all the fighting. The muzzle flashes look really good and realistic.

The introduction gripped me from the very start and the mystery of the story held your attention to watch further. It was a very effective introduction. I did think of an old comedy show involving soldiers, called Dads Army, when the cast and crew were announced, as the techniques were similar. The overall look of the film was very professional.

At the very start of the viewing there were many different questions that came to head, I thought this was very gripping and made me want to watch to find out more.  Through the scenes I am able to work out the relationship between the ‘Green Skull’ and the girl, this then creates a massive twist when the ‘enemy factions’ come out from nowhere and surprise them.  The introduction to the actors reminded me of old sitcoms like ‘allo allo’ as they are shown what they are doing and then their name appears. The film looks professional although there are a couple of improvements which could be made in regards to the sound effects of the weapons, however this would require expensive software.

Good use of sounds effects (i.e gunshot sounds) however the visual effects for the gun shots could be slightly more realistic. Other than that it was an entrapping clip that made you want to watch more to find out what happen. It was greatly improved by removing some of the scenes where the only thing occurring was walking.
